Basingstoke Canal Act 1788Basingstoke Canal Act 1788 18 Geo 3 c. lxxvLocal Acts and old "local" Public General Acts - how to find out if in force
Strictly speaking a Public General Act - before 1797 when the series of Local Acts started, PGAs also could include Acts of local application, and would have been passed by the private bill procedire. Such Acts are marked in the Chronological Tables with an asterisk. Assuming there is nothing in the also in the Current Law Statute Citator you can not find out any more information on whether these are in force.
The Chronological Tables of Local Legislation from 1797 - 2006 is available on OPSI http://www.opsi.gov.uk/chron-tables/local/index.htm The Chronological Table of Private and Personal Acts 1539 - 2006 are also there - http://www.opsi.gov.uk/chron-tables/private/index.htm
