Bilateral Investment Treaties

Page history last edited by Kathryn Hayes 1 mo ago

Bilateral Investment Treaties ("BITs") can be found in the following places:

  • Oxford University Press operates an online service: Investment Claims, which includes the text of over 800 Bilateral Investment Treaties. OUP commission country experts to gather together BITs for key jurisdictions.

  • UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development) has a database of BITs. It will list them all with signature date and entry into force in the Country Lists of BITs and has a search form to allow you to find the full text.

Bilateral Investment Treaties are published as command papers you can order them the same way as any other government publication. Some of these command papers are available in full on the FCO website.

Bilateral Investment Treaties not involving the UK are harder to obtain copies of. Try the 9 volume looseleaf work Investment Promotion and Protection Treaties published by OUP
