Sources of the base rate

  • Can be found in the journal Moneyfacts
  • The Bank of England's base rate can be found on its website. 2009 and earlier changes in selected retail banks' base rates (Barclays, Lloyds/TSB, HSBC and Natwest) are on page 3 of this document (the link is to a Wayback machine archive of the document from 2012)
  • RBS's base rate can be found in their monthly Economic Updates - these contain the current Bank of England rate and the current RBS rate, the date since the rate has been current and what it was a year ago. Historic base rates for RBS can be found on its Databank (choose Interest Rate and then scroll down to UK RBS Base Rate in the Series drop down field).
  • Barclays Bank historic base rates (from 2007) can be found at this page.
  • Lloyds TSB historic base rates (from 2004) can be found at this page.
  • ICAEW lists sources for Base Rates on their Knowledge Guide for Base Rates webpage.
